Jean, Joel Duffau’s father, created his estate in 1965 called les Arromans, catering to up private individual customers. Joel’s grandfather was a precursor in 1928 of the direct-to-customer sale. The estate grew on 30 hectares in Moulon village.
In 1998, Jean and Sylvette retired and shared their vineyard, winery and customers between the 2 brothers Joel and Eric. Joel took over 14 hectares in a vineyard rental system to his parents and the winery. Since 1999, the 2 châteaux have been vinified in the winery of les Arromans, utilizing a dynamic team of six workers on the 2 châteaux, and two advising oenologists.
14 hectares of vineyards. Viticulture is tailored to respect the environment, with traditional techniques (planting grass, disbudding, mechanic thinning of leaves), and vines planted at 5,000 rootstocks per hectare. Harvest is mechanical with a new harvesting machine each year. The objectives are to produce vintages of quality utilizing both vineyard and cellar, optimize the terroir’s potential and production costs, and remain aware of protection of the environment.
