Chateau Lescalle 2009 Bordeaux Supérieur | Taste My Grapes

Chateau Lescalle Wine Review by Taste My Grapes

“Located beChateau Lescalle 2009 Bordeaux Supérieurside the most famous vineyard of the world, Chateau Lescalle was built in 1875 in Macau by Emmanuel Tessandier, at the edge of the Margaux commune. It consists of two main plots of land, one located near the Castle Paruades Maucamps and the other called Lescalle. It is currently owned by the Tessandier family the proprietors of several fantastic Bordeaux properties as Château Maucamps. Château Maucamps AOC Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois Supérieur is described by Oz Clark as similar quality level than Château La Lagune and Château Cantemerle. The 20 hectares of vineyards are located on the alluvial, clayey soils and they are covered with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The winemaking in the estate follows the traditional Médoc style. The vines are very densely planted. The yield is limited in order to concentrate fruity flavours. The wine goes through long maceration process and then aging in oak barriques. By delivering wines of a consistent high quality, Chateau Lescalle is one of the best petit château within Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. It has received several awards and citations in Le Guide Hachette.”
