After a relaxed apéritif with a crisp 2015 Dourthe Grande Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc, succulent dishes were paired with top Bordeaux Blanc and Bordeaux Supérieur wines.
The appetizer consisted of melt-in-your-mouth pan seared dayboat scallops with kale, red quinoa, capers, and lemon, paired with two Bordeaux Blanc wines, 2013 Château Penin and 2015 Château du Cros.
Pairing beautifully with two reds, 2011 Château L’Isle Fort and 2012 Château Tir Pé Le Malbec, the main course was Black Angus steak with potato gratin, watercress puree, and pickled shallot bordelaise.
Artisanal cheeses followed, paired with 2012 Château Pierrail and 2010 Château de Parenchère, Cuvée Raphaël.
Dinner was followed by an unexpected, eye-opening blind tasting.
Guests were notably impressed by the quality and affordability of these stand-out wines. A grand merci to the guests, winemakers and representatives present.
