Planet Bordeaux winemakers Vincent Lataste, Château Lardiley; Pierre Favarel, Domaine d’Ile Margaux; Julien Bruton Sandifer, Château La Tourbeille; Pierre Marcelin, Maison Rivière; and Jonathan Ducourt, Vignobles Ducourt, hosted buyers from retail stores, restaurants, hotels, wine bars and members of the press at a memorable dinner at Troquet Restaurant in Boston.

Wine & Food Pairing Dinner

After a relaxed apéritif with a 2014 Château Thieuley Bordeaux Blanc, the dinner began with an appetizer of Seared Diver Scallops paired with 2015 Les Hauts de Lagarde Bordeaux Blanc (organic) and 2015 Château La Feynelle Bordeaux Blanc.

Two 2012 Bordeaux Supérieurs, Château Recougne and Château Saincrit Vieilles Vignes, accompanied the main course of Duo of Painted Hills Beef. The cheese course was paired with 2011 Château Jean Faux Bordeaux Supérieur and 2010 Grand Vin de Reignac Bordeaux Supérieur.

The wines were expertly commented on by Michael Madrigale, Head Sommelier at Bar Boulud and Epicerie Boulud in NYC and brand ambassador for Planet Bordeaux wines in the U.S.


Surprisingly Fun Blind Tasting

Guests were then treated to a surprising and fun blind tasting with five wines, a game to find the Bordeaux! The four other wines, all of very good quality and within the same price point, consisted of a Rioja, a Côte du Rhône, a Chianti, and a Merlot from Washington State. The Bordeaux was a 2011 Château Penin Les Cailloux. The idea was to recognize the typicity of a Bordeaux and the unmistakable quality-price ratio – and to share the more laid-back and convivial side of Bordeaux. The tasting was very animated, a good time was had by all.
