This year, Planet Bordeaux is hosting intimate wine-pairing dinners in three priority markets, NYC, Boston, and Washington, D.C.. The winemaker dinners offer an excellent opportunity for trade and media to experience firsthand an array of accessible, affordable, and delicious white and red wines paired with exquisite cuisine in a convivial setting.

All three events will be led by Michael Madrigale, Wine Director for Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud and Épicerie Boulud, and ambassador for Planet Bordeaux wines in the U.S. Highly respected in the industry, Madrigale was selected in 2014 by Wine Enthusiast as one of the “Top 40 Under 40,” and has been named by both Food & Wine and Wine Enthusiast as “Top Sommelier of The Year.”

“When it comes to the wines of this renown region, I’ve always had one major philosophy – Bordeaux doesn’t have to be expensive to be good,” said Madrigale. “The Goldmine wine-pairing dinners are the ideal mix of pleasure and education to showcase exceptional wines. Plus, we’re going to have some fun with a surprising blind tasting,” added Madrigale.

Goldmine NYC will be held at Bar Boulud on Monday, February 1st, Goldmine Boston will be at Troquet, Monday, February 29th, and Goldmine D.C. at Marcel’s, on Wednesday, March 2nd. (By invitation only.)

Planet Bordeaux, the U.S. marketing program of the Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur AOCs Winemakers’ Association, represents all wines produced in the regional appellations. The largest winemakers’ association in France, Planet Bordeaux includes seven AOC’s – Bordeaux Blanc, Bordeaux Supérieur Blanc, Bordeaux Rosé, Bordeaux Clairet, Bordeaux Rouge, Bordeaux Supérieur Rouge, and Crémant (sparkling) – and represent 55% of the Bordeaux wine region (387 million bottles in 2014). Overall, 13 bottles of Planet Bordeaux are consumed every second worldwide.
